Der Klang von Venedig | Il Suono di Venezia
The Sound of Venice
Compositions, sounds, films and audio-visual experiences with artists, choirs, craftswomen, wind and water
What does a city sound like? From May 10th to 31st, the exhibition “The Sound of Venice” invites visitors to experience the city from a new angle – through its sounds. Venice is presented not just as a visual, but above all as an acoustic experience.
In collaboration with the Conservatorio Castelfranco and the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, works are being created that explore the city’s sonic identity – from its past to the present.
The exhibition allows you to experience Venice with fresh senses: the gentle rippling of the canals, the ringing of bells, the sacred polyphony of the Renaissance, and modern pop choir arrangements. The voices of the inhabitants – their stories and everyday lives beyond tourism – also become audible.
Beyond the auditory journey, The Sound of Venice explores the interplay of light, space, and sound in shaping perception. These works open new perspectives and challenge familiar images of the city.
Discover the unheard side of Venice and be inspired by the soundscape of one of the world’s most captivating cities.
