Exhibition

The VIDEO-POETRY-WEEK combined the imaginary worlds of poetry with the audiovisual possibilities of short film and animation. Students and poets came together – the poet and the poetess became co-directors.
“It changes the way you look at the world. For you are entering a space of peace, entering a different time zone of thought…” Wim Wenders: Poetry in Motion.
Artistic direction: Prof. Anja Stöffler, Prof. Hartmut Jahn

During the VIDEO-POETRY-WEEK poets like Johanna Maxl, Rike Scheffler and Manuel Niedermeier met creative students and developed with them new audiovisual and installative forms of expression. The basis for this week was formed by more than 20 selected projects, which put texts in a new light using film and animation. These were designed and interpreted – with artistic and audiovisual tools, from poetry clips to films and interactive AR installations in space.

The VIDEO-POETRY-WEEK in Mainz was a further continuation of the exhibition “MOVING TYPES. LETTERS IN MOTION”, which examined the history of type in motion from the beginnings of film to the present day and which is being continued and developed into new dimensions through projects such as the INTERNATIONAL MOTYF FESTIVAL or AKADAMOS.

The location of the LUX Pavilion between the Gutenberg Monument and Schillerplatz in the centre of Mainz is the ideal place to present media and performative works and to start communication about them with university members and the city society.
